SMALL ANIMAL VETERINARY SURGEON
Independent practice—Abergavenny, Wales

We are an independently owned first-opinion Small Animal practice catering to a varied client base in Abergavenny and Ebbw Vale, South Wales. We are currently composed of 3 FTE Vets, 4.5 nurses, 1 kennel assistant, 3 receptionists and 2 office staff. However, we are looking to increase to 4 vets and 5.5 nurses.
We are a VN Training Practice, and an RCVS Accredited General Practice. We share on-call duties with a neighbouring practice.
Both of our sites are fully equipped surgeries and have digital Xrays, ultrasound scanners, in-house Biochemistry and Haematology, and theatres equipped with Humphrey ADE circuits.
VETERINARY SURGEON – FULL TIME OR PART TIME CONSIDERED
Colleague required for 30-40 hours per week, and participation in the OOH rota.
At least 2 years experience required – needs to be comfortable with sole charge and with on-call. Every day includes consulting and operating. The current OOH rota consists of 1 in 6 weeknights on call, and another 1 in 6 in-patient duties. Weekend work consists of 1 Saturday and 1 Sunday in every 9-week block (not in the same weekend) . This is likely to reduce once we take on a further vet.
Salary appropriate for level of experience, £34,000 – £50,000.
Pension at 6.5% of salary.
RCVS, VDS and BSAVA/equivalent membership fees paid.
£1000-£1500 CPD allowance.
4 weeks holiday per year. Must work 1 in 6 Bank Holidays. .
